When Map Project Office approached us about this collaboration, we knew it was going to be special.

Working with our sister studio, K24, we developed a motion system to carefully mimic the real-world movement of a flag.

The design brief was tricky, requiring a long service life, almost silent operation and collaberation between multiple teams around the world.

We developed an initial prototype motion system. This proved the concept, and allowed us to understand the motion of the flag at scale.

This was further developed into a deployable system, which is now animating a total 8 flags in London, Boston and Tokyo.
